Best performance with this shrub is achieved when it is grown in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained, sheltered site that is slightly acidic. It is tolerant of moderate frosts and cool climates, but intolerant of poorly drained soils and extended dry periods. In cooler climates it may become partially deciduous.
