Daphne gnidium, commonly known as Flax-Leaved Daphne, is grown for its lovely foliage and flowers. It grows as a rounded shrub carrying leathery, dark green leaves and produces clusters of highly fragrant, cream-coloured flowers in late spring and early summer. It typically grows to 1.6 m tall and the same wide. Best performance with this shrub is achieved when it is grown in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained, sheltered site that is slightly acidic. It is tolerant of moderate frosts and cool climates, but intolerant of poorly drained soils and extended dry periods.
