Daphne transatlantica Details

Daphne transatlantica (aka Daphne x transatlantica) is grown for its fragrance and prolonged flowering. Masses of highly fragrant, pink flowers are borne from mid-winter through spring. It grows with a rounded shape and carries leathery, glossy, dark green leaves. It typically grows to 90 cm tall and wide, and in cool climates it will be deciduous, otherwise it will remain evergreen. Best performance with this shrub is achieved when it is grown in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained, sheltered site that is slightly acidic. It is tolerant of moderate frosts and cool climates, but very intolerant of poorly drained soils and dry periods. Daphne transatlantica is commonly planted around outdoor living areas such as pools and the like, included in mixed and border plantings, maintained in a container, added to cottage gardens, or planted close to a window or door so the fragrance can fill the house.
