Enkianthus campanulatus is a deciduous shrub grown for its lovely form and impressive flowering. Through spring it produces masses of bell-shaped, pink and cream flowers which are held in a pendulous manner. The foliage Is glossy and bright green and develops copper-red tones in autumn before falling. It grows with a vase shape to about 3 m tall and 2 m wide, performing best when planted in full sun on a well-drained site. It is tolerant of frost, cool climates, and dry periods. Enkianthus campanulatus makes for a lovely specimen and is well suited to adding to a mixed planting, using as a backdrop for smaller plants, or including in a cottage or Japanese themed garden.
