Fuchsia magellanica Tricolor is a shrub renowned for its colourful flowers and foliage. The lush foliage is grey-green and flushed with cream and pink, and held on slender branches. Clusters of pendulous, purple and red, trumpet-shaped flowers are borne amidst the foliage during summer. Together the flowers and foliage put on a spectacular display. It typically grows to 75 cm tall and the same wide, and tends to be evergreen in warmer climates but may become deciduous in cooler regions. Best results with this variety are achieved when it is planted in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained, sheltered site. It will tolerate light frost once established. Fuchsia magellanica Tricolor is commonly included in a mixed planting, maintained in a container, planted to border an entrance, included in cottage gardens, or planted around outdoor living areas.
