Genista monosperma Details

Genista monosperma, commonly known as Weeping Bridal Veil, is a handsome, deciduous shrub grown for its pretty flowers and weeping foliage. The small, fragrant, white flowers are produced in spring before the foliage emerges. The foliage is made up of small green leaves held on pendulous branches. It grows as a rounded and dense planted to about 4 m tall and 3 m wide but can be trimmed as necessary. Best flowering performance with this shrub is achieved when it is planted in full sun on a well-drained site. It tends to become a more open plant when planted in shady conditions. It will tolerate coastal conditions, frost, cool climates, dry periods, and wind. Genista monosperma is commonly included in a mixed planting, used as a backdrop for smaller plants, used for screening, or grown as a specimen.
