Hebe anomala purpurea is a lovely, evergreen shrub that features burgundy stems. The new leaves emerge with purple-red tones and age to become olive-green and this is complemented with masses of white flowers with cream overtones in late summer. It typically grows to 1 m tall and the same wide, performing best when planted in full sun on a well-drained site. Hebe anomala Purpurea is commonly included in mixed plantings where its texture makes a lovely addition to a landscape. It is also well-suited to being grown in a pot, around outdoor living areas, or for border plantings.

Hebe anomala purpurea plant care

The most important part of caring for Hebe anomala purpurea is to make sure they have a well-drained soil that does not become waterlogged at any time. This, along with over-watering, are the main causes of plants to fail to perform or die. The plants can be lightly trimmed any time but this is best undertaken in summer. The final elements are to feed the plants in spring with a general fertiliser and keep an eye on watering so they do not dry out. Keep an eye out for scale insect and mealy bugs and treat with an appropriate agrichemical if necessary.
