“Bel Air” is a spreading, NZ native shrub grown for its amazing foliage and flowers. Impressive, lilac-pink flower spikes adorn the plant through summer. These are borne above the lush and glossy, green foliage, which together produce an outstanding plant. This evergreen shrub typically grows to 75 cm tall and the same wide, performing best when planted in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site. It is tolerant of frost, cool climates, some wind, dry periods, and coastal environments. “Bel Air” looks most effective when planted in clusters and is commonly included in a mixed planting, used in borders, planted around outdoor living areas, maintained in a container, or added to a cottage garden. It is also well suited to being mass planted on a bank or the like.
