Hebe ‘Flame’ is a variety of Hebe grown for both its glossy foliage and showy flowers. It carries large, rose-pink flower spikes from spring through summer. These are held neatly amidst the dark green foliage which often takes on bronze-purple tones during winter. This NZ native, spreading, evergreen shrub typically grows to 60 cm tall and 80 cm wide, performing best when planted in full sun on a well-drained site. It will tolerate frost, coastal conditions, and moderate shade, though this may reduce flowering performance. Hebe ‘Flame’ is commonly included in mixed plantings and borders, planted around outdoor living areas, maintained in a container, or added to a cottage garden. It is also well suited to being mass planted on a bank or the like.
