Short flower spikes carrying purple flowers are borne amidst the lush and glossy, dark green leaves. This NZ native grows with a rounded shape to about 1m tall and the same wide, performing best when planted in full sun on a well-drained site. It is a hardy shrub that will tolerate coastal conditions, dry periods, cool climates, and frost, though protection from heavy frosts is recommended.
