Hebe Jewel Of The Nile is grown for its lovely flowers and foliage. The showy flower clusters from summer through autumn are purple, and are held above the colourful foliage. New foliage emerges with purple tones on leaves that are variegated cream and green. During winter the colouring intensifies with the yellowing becoming more prominent. It grows as a bushy, evergreen shrub to about 80 cm tall and the same wide, performing best when grown in full sun on a well-drained, sheltered site. It is tolerant of frost, cool climates, coastal conditions, and dry periods.
