Hebe Townsonii is grown for its lovely foliage and pretty flowers. This NZ native shrub grows as a bushy, rounded shrub to about 1 m tall and the same wide bearing lush, bright green leaves. The foliage is adorned in spring with short and showy spikes of white flowers with a blue tinge. The combination of foliage and flowers is very aesthetic. Best results with this plant are achieved when it is grown in full sun on a well-drained site. It is tolerant of frost, coastal conditions, dry periods, and some wind. Hebe Townsonii is commonly added to a mixed planting, used in borders, planted around outdoor living areas, used in cottage gardens, or mass planted on a bank.
