Blue Thunder Hibiscus

The Blue Thunder Hibiscus is grown for its showy, single flowers. The flowers are a pale mauve-pink with a cherry red centre, and have a papery appearance. They are produced through summer and autumn and are held on upright, slender branches. The flowers are complemented with glossy green leaves which serve as a lovely backdrop. It typically grows to 1.5 m tall and the same wide, performing best when planted in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained, sheltered site. It is tolerant of short periods of dry as well as moderate frost once established. In cool climates it may become deciduous or partially deciduous during winter.
