Hibiscus syriacus Leopoldii is a Rose of Sharon variety grown for its large, double, flowers that are white and flushed with pink. They are borne through summer and autumn on upright, slender branches. The foliage on this shrub comprises glossy green leaves which create a lovely contrast to the flowers. It typically grows to 2.5 m tall and 2 m wide, performing best when planted in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained, semi-sheltered site. It is tolerant of short periods of dry as well as moderate frost. In cool climates it may become deciduous or partially deciduous during winter. Hibiscus syriacus Leopoldii is commonly grown as a showy specimen, used as an informal hedge, planted for screening, included in a mixed planting, added to a tropical garden, or planted around outdoor living areas.
