Hibiscus syriacus, known as the Common Hibiscus, is grown for its large and showy flowers. The stunning, pink flowers with a dark centre are borne constantly through summer and autumn off upright, slender stems. The stems also host dark-green leaves which complement the flowers beautifully as it grows to 1.5 m tall and the same wide. Hibiscus syriacus is commonly grown as a showy specimen, used as an informal hedge, planted for screening, included in a mixed planting, added to a tropical garden, or planted around outdoor living areas.
