Hibiscus syriacus Snowdrift is grown for its showy, white flowers. The impressive blooms are produced through summer and autumn, and are contrasted wonderfully with the lush and glossy, dark green leaves. It typically grows to 2.5 m tall and 2 m wide, and can be trimmed as necessary. This Rose Of Sharon variety performs best when planted in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained, sheltered site. It is tolerant of moderate frost but should be protected while it is establishing. In cool climates it may become partially deciduous during winter. Hibiscus Snowdrift is commonly grown as a showy specimen, trimmed into a hedge, planted as a backdrop for smaller plants, included in a tropical or “white” garden, or planted around outdoor living areas.
