On alkaline soils or when lime is applied the flowers will be pink. The flowers are complemented by large and lush, dark green leaves. It grows as a compact, multi-stemmed, deciduous shrub with a rounded form to about 1 m tall and the same wide and can be trimmed as necessary. It performs best when planted in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained soil that is slightly acidic. It is hardy to cool climates, frost, and short periods of dry.
