Hydrangea macrophylla Blaumeise is a lacecap variety that features sky blue flowers through summer and autumn. These are complemented with large and lush, dark green leaves that sit perfectly with the flowers. It grows as a multi-stemmed, deciduous shrub with a rounded form to about 1.2 m tall and the same wide and can be trimmed as necessary. Best results with this shrub are achieved when it is planted in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained soil that is slightly acidic. It is hardy to cool climates, frost, and short periods of dry.
