Ilex Madame Briot

Ilex Madame Briot is a variety of Holly grown for it foliage and berries. This densely foliaged, evergreen shrub carries spiny, glossy green leaves with a yellow margin. Small, white, mildly fragrant flowers are produced in spring and result in distinctive, large red berries which attract birds. It typically grows to 5 m tall and the same wide but can be trimmed as necessary. Best growth is achieved when it is planted on a well-drained site in either full sun or partial shade. It is tolerant of dry conditions, cold environments, frost, and coastal conditions. The coarse texture and colour sets Ilex Madame Briot it apart from other landscape plants making it ideal for mixed plantings, hedging or screening, for contrasting with other foliage types, or for use as a backdrop for smaller plants.
