Ilex Mariesii is a variety of Holly grown for its foliage and berries. This densely foliaged, evergreen shrub carries small and glossy, green leaves held densely and tightly on rigid stems. Small, white, flowers are produced in spring and result in distinctive, black berries in summer which attract birds. It typically grows to 2 m tall and 1.2 same wide with a somewhat open structure. Best growth is achieved when it is planted on a well-drained site in either full sun or partial shade. It is tolerant of dry conditions, cold environments, moderate frost, and coastal environments.
