Ilex ‘Largo’, commonly known as the Largo Holly, is an evergreen shrub that features lush foliage. The dark green leaves are smooth and glossy, and held densely as it grows to 3 m tall and 2.5 m wide. Best results with this Holly are achieved when it is grown on a well-drained site in either full sun or partial shade. It is tolerant of dry periods, cool climates, frost, and coastal conditions. Ilex ‘Largo’ is ideal for adding to a mixed planting, trimming into a hedge, using as a screen, planting around outdoor living areas, or growing as a backdrop for smaller plants. Ilex largo is very popular in NZ gardens and is favoured by NZ landscapers for its elegant and sophisticated appeal.
