Lavandula Helmsdale is a larger variety of Lavender that grows as a compact shrub and carries masses of showy, purple flower spikes from spring through summer. The foliage is mid-green and is an elegant complement to the flowers. Both the flowers and foliage produce a lovely aroma when cut. This evergreen shrub typically grows to 75 cm tall and the same wide, performing best when planted on a well-drained site in full sun. It is a hardy plant that will tolerate dry conditions but does require protection from hard frosts when young.
