Lavandula viridis Details

Lavandula viridus is a species of Lavender grown for its unusual flower heads. Spikes of small, green-yellow flowers rise above the foliage during spring and summer. The foliage is green-grey and tends to merge with the flowers. Both the flowers and foliage produce a lovely aroma when cut. This evergreen shrub typically grows to 75 cm tall and the same wide, performing best when planted on a well-drained site in full sun. It is a hardy plant that will tolerate dry conditions but does require protection from hard frosts when young. This Lavender is commonly used in cottage gardens, included in mixed plantings and borders, trimmed into a hedge, or grown in a container. For hedging space plants 50 cm apart. A mass planting gives a truly dramatic display.
