Melaleuca lateritia, commonly known as the Robin Redbreast Bush, is a small shrub grown for its pretty flowers. It has dense, almost needle like, green foliage which is held on arching branches. It produces masses of orange-red, bottlebrush like flowers from spring through summer. This evergreen typically grows to 1.5 m tall and the same wide, performing best when planted in full sun on a well-drained site. It is tolerant of wet, swampy conditions, coastal environments, moderate frost, and dry periods. Melaleuca lateritia is commonly included in mixed plantings, grown as an informal hedge, or used as a backdrop for other plants.
