It carries glossy leaves which are dark green with a yellow margin. The foliage is adorned with masses of small, red flowers through spring and summer which nestle themselves into the foliage. It typically grows to 75 cm tall and 1.5 m wide, preferring a full sun or partial shade position for best results. It is tolerant of dry periods, coastal conditions, cool climates, and moderate frost but will benefit from being looked after while it is establishing.
