This NZ native Christmas tree produces stunning displays of crimson-red flowers in summer. They sit neatly with the lush foliage which emerges on red stems and is variegated green and yellow as it grows to 4 m tall and the same wide. Metrosideros Midas is an excellent choice for coastal gardens, adding to mixed plantings, or trimming into a hedge. This Pohutukawa is an easy plant to grow and is colourful year-round.

Metrosideros Midas Details

Metrosideros Midas is a variety of the commonly known, Pohutukawa, and is grown for its impressive foliage and flowers. This NZ native Christmas tree produces stunning displays of crimson-red flowers in summer. They sit neatly with the lush foliage which emerges on red stems and is variegated green and yellow. As the leaves age, they tend to become greener in colour. It typically grows to 4 m tall and the same wide and can be contained with trimming as necessary. Best performance with this plant is achieved when it is positioned in full sun on a well-drained site. It is tolerant of poor soils, dry periods, moderate frost, and coastal environments. Metrosideros Midas is an excellent choice for coastal gardens, adding to mixed plantings, or trimming into a hedge. This Pohutukawa is an easy plant to grow and is colourful year-round.
