“Goshiki” is an evergreen shrub grown for its attractive foliage. It produces spiny, green leaves which are marbled with cream. They are often tinged pink or bronze when young. It produces clusters of small and highly-scented white flowers during summer and autumn which are followed by blue-black berries. This showy plant typically grows to 1.5 m tall and 2 m wide, and can be trimmed as necessary. It performs best when grown on a well-drained site in full sun or partial shade, and will tolerate dry periods, coastal environments, and moderate frost. The hardiness and great aesthetics of this plant makes it highly versatile. “Goshiki” is commonly included in a mixed planting, used as a backdrop for smaller plants, grown as a hedge, or planted so its beauty and fragrance can be enjoyed.
