Pachystegia rufa Details

Pachystegia rufa, commonly known as the Marlborough Rock Daisy plant, is a highly desirable, NZ native shrub. It bears showy, white flowers in summer which are held above leathery, dark green leaves. The combination is eye catching and even when the flowers are finished the foliage is aesthetic in its own right. It typically grows to 1 m tall and the same wide and can be trimmed as necessary. In its natural habitat it is often found on exposed sites with little soil and this reason this plant is tolerant of dry soils, wind, coastal conditions, frost, and cool climates. Nevertheless, it will grow exceptionally well in a full sun position on a well-drained site. This Pachystegia is often included in rock gardens and exposed coastal gardens, planted in drier parts of the garden, or simply maintained in a container.
