The Phylica plumosa plant, commonly known as the Flannel Bush Plant or the Australian Flannel Flower, is a small and bushy shrub grown for its interesting flowers and foliage. It carries narrow and leathery, dark green leaves which are covered in fine hair. Cream-white flowers with a light, cinnamon scent are borne at the end of each stem during autumn and into winter as it grows to 1 m tall and the same wide. The Australian Flannel Flower is commonly added to a mixed planting or included anywhere something a little different is desired. The stems are often cut for floral work.

Phylica plumosa Details

The Phylica plumosa plant, commonly known as the Flannel Bush Plant or the Australian Flannel Flower, is a small and bushy shrub grown for its interesting flowers and foliage. It carries narrow and leathery, dark green leaves which are covered in fine hair. Cream-white flowers with a light, cinnamon scent are borne at the end of each stem during autumn and into winter. These are great for attracting bees. It typically grows to 1 m tall and the same wide, performing best when positioned in full sun on a well-drained, sheltered site. It will tolerate moderate frost, dry periods, and coastal environments but will benefit from protection while establishing. The Australian Flannel Flower is commonly added to a mixed planting or included anywhere something a little different is desired. The stems are often cut for floral work.
