In spring it bears small, maroon-coloured flowers amidst the leaves. This hardy evergreen typically grows to 2 m tall and 1 m wide but can be trimmed as necessary. It grows best on a well-drained site in full sun with good moisture during dry periods. It is hardy to frosts, wind, coastal conditions, and cold climates.
