Pittosporum rigidum Details

Pittosporum rigidum is a shrub grown for its divaricating nature. It produces small, green leaves held on rigid, brown stems. Due to the sparseness of the leaves and prominence of the branches it is referred to as divaricating. During spring it produces very small, dark red flowers that age to black. This NZ native typically grows to 1.5 m tall and the same wide, performing best when grown in full sun on a well-drained site. It is tolerant of most soil types except extreme wet, and will handle dry periods, coastal conditions, wind, cool climates, and frost with ease. Pittosporum rigidum tends to be used in a native planting or added to a mixed planting where something a little different is wanted.
