Pittosporum roimata is grown for its lush foliage and elegant flowers. The sweetly scented, yellow flowers are produced amidst the glossy, dark green leaves through spring and early summer. It grows as a bushy and rounded shrub with a somewhat open habit to about 2 m tall and 1.5 m wide, performing best when positioned in full sun on a well-drained site. It tends to be less dense when grown in shaded conditions. This variety is hardy to moderate frost, cool climates, coastal conditions, and most soil types except wet or heavy soils. Pittosporum roimata is commonly included in NZ native plantings, grown as a small specimen, planted around outdoor living areas, or grown to attract birds.
