Pittosporum Sumo Details

Pittosporum tenuifolium Sumo is an attractive variety of Pittosporum which is grown for its form and foliage. It features dark brown-black stems that host small, fresh green leaves. This shrub grows rapidly with a tidy habit to about 3 m tall and 1.5 m wide and can be trimmed as necessary. Trimming encourages new growth and produces a tighter plant. Small, maroon-black flowers are produced in spring and provide additional interest. Best performance with this evergreen is achieved when it is grown in full sun on a well-drained site. It is tolerant of most soil types, except extreme wet or dry, and will tolerate reasonable shade levels. It will also tolerate dry periods, moderate wind, coastal conditions, and frost once established. Pittosporum Sumo is an excellent choice for hedging, screening, adding to a mixed planting, or growing as a specimen.
