Pittosporum Wai-iti Details

Pittosporum tenuifolium Wai-iti is grown for its outstanding foliage. Jade-green leaves are held densely on solid, dark red stems providing a fresh and lush appearance. It typically grows to 3 m tall and 2 m wide but can be trimmed as necessary. Best performance with this evergreen is achieved when it is planted in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site. It is tolerant of most soil types, except extreme wet, and will grow in shaded conditions though tends to become less dense. It is also tolerant of wind, coastal conditions, periods of dry, and frost once established. Pittosporum Wai-iti is commonly included in coastal gardens, trimmed into a hedge, used as a backdrop for smaller plants, or planted for shelter or screening. It is also great for adding to a mixed planting, using in native regeneration projects, or for planting around pool and outdoor living areas. Space plants 50 cm apart for hedging.
