Podocarpus macrophyllus Maki, commonly known as Shrubby Yew Tree, Chinese Podocarpus, or Shrubby Podocarpus, produces dense, dark green leaves, with new foliage emerging lime green. It grows slowly with a columnar shape to about 3 m tall and 2 m wide, and can be trimmed as necessary. Podocarpus Maki is commonly included in a mixed planting, trimmed into a hedge, maintained in a container, used for topiary and bonsai, included in pool and Japanese gardens, or planted to border an entrance.

Podocarpus macrophyllus Maki, commonly known as Shrubby Yew Tree, Chinese Podocarpus, or Shrubby Podocarpus, is a hardy shrub grown for its foliage and form. It produces dense, dark green leaves, with new foliage emerging lime green. The combination of old and new foliage creates a two-toned display for most of the year. It grows slowly with a columnar shape to about 3 m tall and 2 m wide, and can be trimmed as necessary. Best results with this evergreen are achieved when it is grown in full sun on a well-drained, sheltered site. It is tolerant of frost, cool climates, and short periods of dry. Podocarpus Maki is commonly included in a mixed planting, trimmed into a hedge, maintained in a container, used for topiary and bonsai, included in pool and Japanese gardens, or planted to border an entrance.
