Protea compacta Details

Protea compacta, commonly called Bot River Protea, produces large and showy, pink flower heads from autumn through spring. It grows as a sprawling woody shrub to about 1.5 m tall and the same wide with thick stems carrying green leaves. Best results with this Protea are achieved when it is grown in full sun on a well-drained site. It is tolerant of extended dry periods, frost, and cool climates though some protection while establishing will benefit this plant. Protea compacta is a versatile plant that is often included in a mixed planting, added to a coastal planting, maintained in a container, planted around the pool area, or grown anywhere the beauty of the large flowers can be enjoyed.
