Sylvia Protea, Protea eximia Sylvia

Protea “Sylvia” produces large, dark red flower heads with a black trim from autumn through spring. It grows as a woody shrub to about 2 m tall and the same wide with thick stems and large, green leaves. Best results with this Protea are achieved when grown in full sun on a well-drained site. It is tolerant of extended dry periods, moderate frost, and cool climates though some protection while establishing will benefit the performance of this plant. “Sylvia” is a versatile plant that is often included in a mixed planting, added to a coastal planting, maintained in a container, planted around outdoor living areas, or grown anywhere the beauty of the large flowers can be enjoyed.
