Pseudopanax lessonii Nigra

Pseudopanax lessonii Nigra is grown for its vibrant and dark foliage. It has leathery leaves which are a deep mahogany colour. It typically grows to 2 m tall and the same wide and can be trimmed as necessary. Best performance with this shrub is achieved when it is grown on a well-drained site in full sun. In partial shade it tends to grow with an open habit. It is tolerant of wind, coastal environments, moderate drought, and frost once established. Pseudopanax lessonii Nigra is commonly included in a mixed planting, planted around the barbecue, pool, or patio area, trimmed into a hedge, or grown as a specimen.
