“Brilliant” is an attractive shrub grown for its decorative berries. Clusters of dainty, white flowers are borne in spring and result in masses of the orange-red berries in autumn and winter. The berries are colourful and are great for attracting birds. The dark green leaves are lush and aesthetic in their own right. It typically grows to 2 m tall and the same wide and can be trimmed as necessary. Best performance with this plant is achieved when it is grown on a well-drained, sheltered site in full sun. It is tolerant of frost, cool climates, some wind, and coastal conditions. “Brilliant” is commonly trimmed into a hedge, used for screening, included in a mixed planting, used in cottage gardens, planted to attract birds, or grown to provide winter colour.
