Rhaphiolepis umbellata, commonly known as the Yeddo Hawthorne, is a showy, evergreen shrub that originates from Japan. It features lush and glossy, dark green leaves held densely on short stems. These contrast nicely with the small and fragrant, white flowers which are borne in clusters during summer as it grows to 1.5 m tall and the same wide. Rhaphiolepis umbellata is a great choice for trimming into a hedge, adding to a mixed planting, including in “white” gardens, planting around outdoor living areas, or growing anywhere the aesthetics of this plant can be appreciated.
