Rhododendron Rubicon features tight clusters of showy, velvet red flowers through spring. It is reasonably fast growing with an erect growth habit, bearing dark green leaves that complement the flowers nicely as it grows to 1.5 m tall and the same wide. Rhododendron Rubicon is commonly included in a mixed planting, used in cottage gardens, grown as a backdrop for smaller plants, or planted around outdoor living areas.

Rhododendron Rubicon Details

Rhododendron Rubicon features tight clusters of showy, velvet red flowers through spring. It is reasonably fast growing with an erect growth habit, bearing dark green leaves that complement the flowers nicely. It typically grows to 1.5 m tall and the same wide, performing best when grown in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained, sheltered site. It is tolerant of moderate frost and dry periods. Only acidic fertilisers should be used with Rhododendrons as fertilising with lime can kill or stunt the plant. Rhododendron Rubicon is commonly included in a mixed planting, used in cottage gardens, grown as a backdrop for smaller plants, or planted around outdoor living areas.
