Syringa Clarks Giant Details

Syringa Clarks Giant is a variety of French Lilac grown for its showy flowers from late spring through summer. At this time, purple buds open to reveal fragrant, single, double, lilac blue flowers which are great for attracting butterflies. The foliage comprises dark green, heart-shaped leaves and develops yellow tones in autumn before falling. It grows upright with a somewhat loose habit to about 2.5 m tall and the same wide though can be trimmed as necessary. Best performance with this plant is achieved when grown in full sun on a well-drained, sheltered site. It is tolerant of light shade, short periods of dry, frost, and cool climates. Syringa Clarks Giant is commonly included in a mixed planting, used as a backdrop for smaller plants, included in cottage gardens, or used as a flowering hedge.
