Syringa komarowii, Nodding Lilac
Syringa komarowii, commonly known as Nodding Lilac, is a deciduous shrub grown for its showy and perfumed flowers. Purple buds open through late spring and summer to reveal clusters of the tubular, pink blooms. The foliage comprises dark green, heart-shaped leaves which develop yellow tones in autumn before falling. It grows to about 3 m tall and 2.5 m wide. Syringa komarowii is commonly included in a mixed planting, used as a backdrop for smaller plants, included in cottage gardens, or grown as a flowering hedge.
