Tamarix ramosissima Details

Tamarix ramosissima, commonly known as Salt Cedar, is a large, deciduous shrub grown for its flowers and foliage. From late spring through summer, it produces plumes of small, pink flowers. These are held on near the ends of the arching branches. The stems are red and also host, finely textured, blue-green leaves. It typically grows to 3.5 m tall and 3 m wide but can be trimmed as necessary. Best performance with this plant is achieved when planted in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site. It is tolerant of coastal conditions, extended dry periods, low fertility, and poor soil conditions. Tamarix ramosissima is commonly used in coastal gardens, as a windbreak, for planting up arid areas, or simply added to a mixed planting.
