Tibouchina Blue Moon is a blue flowering shrub grown for both its foliage and beautiful flowers. It grows as an evergreen shrub and carries soft looking, dark green foliage. The lilac-purple flowers are produced in abundance through summer and autumn. It grows compactly to about 1.5 m tall and the same wide, and can be trimmed as necessary. Best results with this plant are achieved when it is grown on a well-drained site in full sun or partial shade. It is tolerant of dry periods and mild frost though protection while it is establishing is highly recommended. Tibouchina Blue Moon is commonly included in a mixed planting, maintained in a container, planted around outdoor living areas, included in cottage gardens, or used as a backdrop for smaller plants.
