Tea Viburnum
Viburnum setigerum, commonly known as Tea Viburnum, is an evergreen shrub grown for its berries, foliage, and flowers. Showy clusters of small, white flowers are borne through spring and are followed by masses of small, glossy, red berries. The clusters of berries are very aesthetic. The foliage comprises dark green leaves which develop purple tones in autumn before falling. It grows with a rounded, multi-stemmed habit to about 2.5 m tall and the same wide but can be trimmed as necessary. Best performance with this plant is achieved when grown in full sun on a well-drained site. It is a hardy plant that will tolerate dry periods, heavy soils, frost, and cool climates. The Tea Viburnum is commonly included in a mixed planting, used as an informal hedge, used as a backdrop for smaller plants, included in cottage gardens, or planted around water features.
