Weigela florida is grown for its colourful flowers and lush foliage. This compact shrub produces green leaves held densely on gently arching stems. The foliage is complemented with clusters of rose-pink flowers through spring and summer which are great for attracting birds. The combination of flowers and foliage produces a fantastic and eye-catching display. This deciduous plant grows with a rounded shape to about 1.5 m tall and the same wide, and can be trimmed as necessary. It performs best when planted in full sun on a well-drained, sheltered site, and is tolerant of frost, cool climates, and short periods of dry.
