Yucca aloifolia, commonly known as the Aloe Yucca or Spanish Bayonet Yucca, is a large shrub grown for its foliage and form. It produces a crown of mid-green, spear shaped leaves borne off the trunk. It tends not to have any branches but can have multiple, upright trunks. This evergreen can reach 5 m tall and 2 m wide with good growing conditions, but can be trimmed as necessary which will also stimulate new stems. Best performance with this plant is achieved when it is positioned in full sun on a well-drained site. It will tolerate dry periods, some wind, and moderate shade but must have frost protection.
