Agave Mediopicta Aurea is a variety of the commonly known, Century Agave, and is grown for its foliage and hardy nature. It grows as a rosette with fleshy, bright yellow leaves edged with dark green. The leaves radiate outwards from the centre of the plant with a gentle arch and each leaf has sharp spines along their edges. Mature plants may produce a large flower spike with green-yellow flowers. This succulent typically grows to 1.5 m tall and the same wide, performing best when grown in full sun on a well-drained soil. It is tolerant of dry conditions, light shade, and moderate frost. Agave Mediopicta Aurea is commonly used as an attractive feature in modern gardens, particularly when planted in clusters or used to contrast with other colours and forms. It is also ideal for mixed plantings, rock gardens, or including in Mediterranean garden themes.
