Agave decipiens Details

Agave decipiens, commonly known as the Sisal Agave, has broad and stiff, mid-green leaves which are fleshy with sharp edges. The leaves protrude outwards from a central stem. In summer, a stem emerges from the centre of the plant reaching upwards of 4 m to bear a cluster of green-yellow flowers. Ignoring the flower stem, it typically grows to 2 m tall and 1.5 m wide, performing best when grown in full sun on a well-drained soil. It is tolerant of dry conditions, light shade, and moderate frost. Agave decipiens is commonly used as an attractive feature in modern gardens, particularly when planted in clusters or used to contrast with other colours and forms. It is also ideal for mixed plantings, rock gardens, growing in a container, planting around the pool area, or including in Mediterranean garden themes.
